Herringbone & Parquet Flooring for Wolverhampton Homes
From the Victorian terraces in Penn Fields to the 1930s semis off Tettenhall Road, many properties around the Wolverhampton area cry out for the warmth and rhythm of real herringbone parquet.
We begin by levelling the sub-floor, using ply boarding, Screed or latex and also adding a moisture-barrier where necessary. We then glue each block down in a perfectly aligned spine pattern so there are no squeaks or hollow spots, using laser technology to ensure the floor is aligned.
After curing, the entire surface is sanded in progressive passes to bring every block absolutely flush, before we then seal the timber with your choice of finish, from ultra-durable lacquers for busy family traffic to hard-wax oil for a natural look, both available in a number of sheen levels.
Prefer a modern twist? Opt for wide-format chevron or a double-herringbone layout available in a range of timber types such as Oak, Beech & Walnut.
Whether traditional solid oak or moisture-stable engineered blocks – both carry a 20-year structural warranty in a domestic environment and are fully compatible with under-floor heating, thanks to flexible Silane modified-prepolymer adhesive that allows seasonal movement without cracking.
Dust-Free Sanding & Wood Floor Restoration
Whether your lounge in Finchfield is dulled by decades of varnish or the maple boards in your Lichfield Street office are peppered with chair-wheel scratches, our sanding machines are fitted with their own dust extraction bags to capture a majority of dust at source. Leaving only minimal dust discharge, thus keeping the rest of the property virtually mess-free.
We start by punching in any protruding nails before commencing the sanding process.
We can also undertake the replacement of any split or missing boards or blocks with new or reclaimed timber of the same species and age, so the repair vanishes once finished. Minor gaps can also be filled with resin and fine dust from your own floor for a seamless match.
The freshly sanded surface then receives a primer plus two coats of Bona Mega lacquer, leaving either a matt, silky satin or gloss sheen that can resist scuffs, coffee spills and marks in a domestic environment for as long as ten years in some cases.
We can also offer a harder, more durable, alternative finish, such as Bona Traffic HD. This is ideal for areas with high foot traffic such as hallways or properties with pets that may cause higher than average wear.
Prefer a softer, low-sheen look, or an alternative colour? We can substitute a lacquer for Bona 2k Craft Oils or Osmo hard-wax oils. We can also apply a custom colour stain if required — anything from a Nordic white to a rich Jacobean brown — before sealing with a Bona lacquer.

Customer Reviews
Parquet Flooring can be laid in many different patterns which include Herringbone and Basketweave.
Types and Patterns of Parquet Flooring
Parquet flooring is one of the most traditional and distinctive wood flooring options, which can be laid in many different patterns, including Herringbone and Basketweave. These patterns have been used extensively in both traditional and contemporary interiors and are ideally suited for use in schools, restaurants, as well as domestic settings.
Herringbone block pattern consists of rectangular blocks of equal size placed at a diagonal to the walls of the room. Each block is locked to the surrounding blocks and glued to the subfloor to provide maximum strength to the floor. Herringbone floors possess excellent durability properties and provide many years of wear even in a commercial environment.
Longevity and Renovation Benefits of Parquet Flooring
Not only will your floor last a lifetime, but it will also improve with age and can be sanded and renovated at any time to restore it to its original look. Parquet flooring comes in a choice of sizes, styles and timbers, giving you the broadest range of options.

Parquet & Herringbone Flooring FAQs
Absolutely. We source reclaimed blocks where possible and can machine new timber to replicate uncommon patterns so the repair is seamless.
Parquet is a wooden floor made from small blocks or strips arranged in repeating geometric patterns—most famously herringbone, basket‑weave or chevron. The blocks are usually hardwood (oak, maple or walnut are amongst the most common) and are glued directly to a level sub‑floor to create a single, stable surface that can be sanded and refinished just like traditional plank flooring.
Yes—if you want character and longevity. Properly installed and finished, parquet is as durable as strip flooring, adds visual interest and can boost a property’s resale value. It can also be sanded and re‑sealed multiple times, which means the floor ages gracefully rather than needing full replacement.
Absolutely, provided the slab is dry, level and free of cracks. We apply a two‑part liquid damp‑proof membrane (DPM) where necessary, then use a flexible MS‑polymer adhesive to bond the blocks securely to the concrete.
Parquet is normally bonded directly to a prepared sub‑floor, but if the sub‑floor is uneven, we may install a plywood or latex levelling compound first. On screeded slabs, a liquid DPM is essential to block residual moisture.
Solid or engineered oak parquet can last 60–100 years with normal domestic use, provided it is refinished every 10–15 years and kept dry. Many Victorian‑era parquet floors in the UK are still in service today after more than a century.
Blocks lift (or “tent”) when moisture levels change rapidly, adhesives fail or the expansion gap is missing. Common causes include rising damp, plumbing leaks, under‑floor heating set too high or simply age‑related adhesive breakdown. We diagnose the source, replace failed blocks and re-bond the floor with modern flexible adhesive before sanding and refinishing.
Our team installs basket‑weave, chevron, double herringbone, brick‑bond and bespoke in‑lay borders. We can also replicate historic designs for listed buildings by machining custom blocks from matching timber.
Yes. Once fully bonded and sealed with a heavy‑duty lacquer, parquet easily withstands café, hotel and school traffic. A simple screen‑and‑top‑coat every three to five years keeps the surface looking fresh without full sanding.
It can if you choose an engineered parquet block with a plywood or birch‑multiply core. We monitor slab moisture, keep flow temperatures below 27 °C and leave the system off for 48 hours before and after installation to prevent sudden expansion.
Each installation is different depending on the installation area, flooring type and finish, border requirements and the finish being applied, however:
A typical 25 m² room can be as little as three, up to five working days: one to two days for headline, and laying the floor, one to two days for a border installation (if required) and sanding flush and one day for sealing. Add 24 hours after the final coat before light foot traffic and 48 hours before moving heavy furniture back.
Absolutely. We lift surrounding blocks, remove any failed bitumen or adhesive, replace or clean the affected pieces, then re‑bond everything with modern adhesive. After a full sand and new finish, the repair is nearly invisible.
