Having placed an order elsewhere for solid wood flooring I was nervous about finding a trusted Company to fit it. After a lot of googling I came across CMT Flooring and after checking reviews etc decided to go with them. I must say that I am super relieved that I did. They were extremely helpful, allowing easy coordination of wood supply and fitting and the lads did a totally fab job of the floor. They also went that little bit extra to help me out with a few bits. Super happy I found them and would totally recommend their services. *****

We were very impressed by the work Nick from CMT Flooring and the wider team. Nick was knowledgeable, efficient and very tidy when working. He guided us through certain choices when it came to borders, joins and levelling the floor beforehand. Communication was clear and prompt and the quote was comprehensive, with no hidden costs. Would 100% recommend to anyone.

We were very impressed with the work done by Nick of CMT Flooring Ltd to repair and renovate a large area of parquet flooring in the dining room, hall and stairs region of our home. Nick was clearly expert at what he was doing, and was very happy to explain exactly what he was doing and why. What could have been a difficult experience with several sequences of sanding and allowing coatings to dry in a critical area of our home, turned out to be surprisingly trouble-free. CMT took a lot of care initially in sourcing potentially matching parquet tiles and in making sure that we would be happy with the match, before going ahead with the work. We are very pleased with the result.

Robert and Daniel were very polite and efficient and did a fantastic job sanding our wooden floor in the lounge. There was a particularly problematic area which they went over several times with the sander. The end result was amazing and the price was very competitive. They were also very helpful answering all of our questions and advice sought on how to look after the refreshed floor. We will definitely recommend them to others and will certainly be using them again in the future.

Junckers, Boen & Tarkett Flooring FAQs

Are Junckers, Boen and Tarkett real wood floors?2025-05-07T17:10:53+01:00

Yes. Junckers boards are generally solid Beech, Oak or Maple all the way through. In comparison Tarkett and Boen use multilayer planks and have a 3–4 mm solid‑wood wear layer bonded to cross‑grain softwood for stability.

All brands use sustainably sourced European timber, carry FSC/PEFC certification and meet low‑emission standards such as E1 and M1.

What is the best flooring for a sports hall?2025-05-07T17:12:27+01:00

We recommend a solid or engineered plank flooring specifically designed for sports use, with an underlay or batten system tailored to suit the floor build-up height, shock absorption and area elasticity properties to suit its use.

For multi‑sport use—basketball, badminton, 5‑a‑side—an EN 14904‑certified sprung hardwood system such as Junckers SylvaSport offers the best mix of shock absorption, ball bounce and scope for future refinishing.

What sub‑floor preparation is needed?2025-05-07T17:14:11+01:00

Concrete must be flat to ±3 mm over 2 m, fully cured and sealed with a liquid DPM. Uneven screeds are levelled with a latex compound. Timber joists usually take an 18 mm plywood deck or a Junckers Clip System. We test humidity, remove any laitance and prime before trowelling out flexible adhesive or installing the clip strips.

How long do Junckers floors last?2025-05-07T17:14:52+01:00

The 22 mm solid boards can be sanded 8–10 times—about once every decade in a domestic setting—so a life expectancy of 60–100 years is realistic. In sports halls, a screen‑and‑re‑coat every 3–5 years plus a full sanding cycle every 15–20 years keeps the surface within EN 14904 performance limits.

Can Junckers flooring be sanded?2025-05-07T17:15:08+01:00

Yes—one of the big advantages of Junckers is its thick, solid construction. A 22 mm board has around 10 mm of usable wear layer, allowing multiple full sanding cycles with a drum or belt sander. Even the thinner 14 mm “Slim” boards can be sanded 3–4 times, provided the correct grit sequence is used.

Do Junckers, Tarkett & Boen floors come pre‑finished?2025-05-07T17:15:30+01:00

Most ranges arrive factory‑oiled or lacquered under controlled conditions, this seals the grain and minimises the on‑site finishing time. We usually recommend adding one additional coat after fitting to protect the joints, seal any line markings, unify the sheen level and extend the product warranty to its full term.

What is the difference between Junckers, Tarkett, Boen and parquet?2025-05-07T17:16:03+01:00

The first three are brands that manufacture various flooring types, Parquet refers to a pattern—blocks arranged in herringbone, basket‑weave or chevron, parquet can also be supplied in an engineered or solid‑wood block form.

How thick should my gym flooring be?2025-05-07T17:16:28+01:00

Purpose‑built hardwood sports flooring is typically 22 mm thick; however when installed on either a foam, batten or cradle system, a combined build‑up of 27– 200mm + can be achieved.

Do you need underlay for gym flooring?2025-05-07T17:16:54+01:00

Sprung hardwood systems incorporate their own shock‑absorbing battens or foam strips, so no separate underlay is required. For floating engineered boards directly onto a screed, a high‑density sports underlay between 5mm-10mm can be used; this helps deaden noise and provides different levels of shock absorption properties.
